2K honours Kobe Bryant with Mamba Forever Edition of NBA 2K21
NBA 2K honours Kobe (pic: 2K)The late, great Kobe Bryant has been chosen as the feature superstar in the third and final unveiling of cover athletes for NBA 2K21, ahead of a September release. Kobe Bryant takes his place on the cover of a special Mamba Forever Edition of 2K21 coming to current and next gen consoles. Described as ‘a celebration of a lifetime achievement of basketball excellence’, the Mamba Forever edition releases on 4 September on current gen consoles, with 2K taking pre-orders as of today. 
Everyone loves Kobe (pic: 2K)The five-time NBA champion will be a popular choice with fans, following his tragic death in January earlier this year, and be of little surprise given the magnitude of his achievements and influence on modern day basketball from his 20 years as an LA Laker. It will also be the second time Kobe has featured on the cover of 2K, with a legend edition of 2K17 featuring the Black Mamba on its cover as a tribute to him retiring earlier that year. 
The full line-up of cover stars (pic: 2K)Completing the announcement, 2K revealed that 2K21 will be a launch title for next gen consoles, due for release around Christmas, adding that ‘for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X , we are building the game from the ground up to take full advantage of next gen power and technology.’ 2K’s announcement completes the line-up of their cover athletes for this year’s release, with Kobe joining Damian Lillard and Zion Williamson as the franchise’s latest stars. This makes your progress, as well as your microtransactions, transferable between consoles in the same family (i.e. PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5). NBA 2K21 will be available for £59.99 on current gen platforms, whilst the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X version of NBA 2K21 will be available for £64.99.
